My Weekly Review: The Sunday Process Behind Green Weeks

September 16, 2026  ·  BY BIG BULL 🔱

Nobody sees the work that makes the week. They see the green P&L screenshots. They don't see Sunday.

Every Sunday, before the week starts, I sit down with my journal and review every single trade I took. Not the highlights. All of them. The winners, the losers, and especially the ones in between that I barely remember taking.

This process is the reason my weeks are green more often than not. The trading happens Monday to Friday. The improving happens on Sunday.

Grading every trade

I grade every trade A, B, or C. Not by outcome, by process.

An A trade followed the plan perfectly: right setup, right entry, right size, right exit. If an A trade lost money, that is fine. The process was correct and the loss was the cost of doing business.

A B trade had a flaw. Entered a little early, sized a little big, exited a little late. B trades that win are dangerous because they teach you that sloppiness pays. I mark them honestly.

A C trade broke the rules. Chased an entry, skipped the stop, revenge traded, traded a setup that wasn't there. C trades are the enemy. One C trade can erase a week of A trades.

At the end of the review I count the grades. My goal is simple: more A's than last week, fewer C's than last week. The P&L follows the grades. It always does.

Finding the one lesson

After grading, I look for the pattern. Not five lessons. One.

Maybe my B trades all came from entering before the shift confirmed. Maybe my C trades all happened after 11:30. Maybe I kept taking shorts below VWAP on trend-up days. Whatever the most expensive pattern is, that becomes the one lesson for next week.

One lesson, written on a sticky note on my monitor. Just one. "Wait for the shift." "No trades after 11:30." "Above VWAP, longs only."

Traders try to fix everything at once and fix nothing. I fix one thing per week. Fifty-two weeks of one fix is a transformed trader.

Reviewing the setups, not just the trades

I also review my setups as categories. How did sweep reversals perform this week? How did VWAP reclaims do? How did the 10 AM reversal rule treat me?

This is how I learn what the market is rewarding right now. Some weeks the sweeps are clean and reversals print. Other weeks the market is trending and breakouts work better. The market has moods, and the review shows me which setups match the current mood.

If a setup category is cold for two weeks straight, I stop trading it until the review says it's working again. I don't marry setups. I date them based on performance.

Planning the week ahead

The last part of the Sunday review is forward-looking. I check the economic calendar for the week: Fed speakers, CPI, PPI, any event that can nuke a technical setup.

I mark the key levels on $SPY and $QQQ: the weekly highs and lows, the big liquidity pools, the levels where the real moves will start. Monday morning I don't start from zero. I start from a map I drew on Sunday.

And I set one intention. Not a profit target, those are poison. An intention about process. "This week I wait for confirmation on every entry." "This week I shut it down at 11:30." The intention is the week's theme, and the theme is always about discipline, never about dollars.

The mistakes traders make with review

Only reviewing losers. Winners need review too. A B-grade winner is a future loser wearing a disguise.

Grading by outcome. A perfect-process loss is an A. A sloppy win is a C. If you grade by P&L, you learn nothing.

Trying to fix everything. Five lessons means zero lessons. One pattern, one fix, one week.

Skipping it when the week was green. Green weeks need review most. That is when bad habits hide behind good results.

I trade $SPY and $QQQ 0DTEs all week, and I get better every Sunday. The free Discord is where it happens, join free.

FAQ

How do you do a weekly trading review?

Every Sunday I grade every trade A, B, or C based on process, not outcome. Then I find the one most expensive pattern and make it next week's single lesson. Then I review setup categories for what's working, check the week's economic calendar, mark key levels, and set one process intention.

Should you grade trades by profit or process?

Process. A perfect setup that stopped out is an A trade. A sloppy chase that made money is a C trade. Grading by outcome teaches you that luck is skill. Grading by process teaches you what actually works.

How many things should you fix per week?

One. Find the most expensive pattern in your review and fix only that. Traders who try to fix five things fix nothing. Fifty-two weeks of one fix each is a completely transformed trader.

Why review winning weeks?

Because bad habits hide behind green P&L. A B-grade winner is a future loser in disguise. Green weeks need review most, while the habits are still visible and before they cost you real money.
